Dr.P.Madeswaran Scientist F, marine biologist and presently working as Scientist at NCCR (formerly as Integrated Coastal and Marine Area Management - Project Directorate (ICMAM-PD)), Ministry of Earth Sciences (MoES), Chennai. He has twenty-five years of experience and expertise in handling multidisciplinary R&D programmes in the areas of environment and resources assessment, policy development and multilateral agreements at the national, regional (South Asia Cooperative Environment Programme) and global levels (Commission for Conservation of Antarctic Marine Living Resources). During April 1989, he joined as a Research Assistant in Ministry of Environment and Forests, New Delhi and was promoted to Research Officer in 1993. In 1994, he joined as Senior Scientific Officer at Ministry of Earth Sciences (MoES), erstwhile called “Department of Ocean Development (DOD)” and associated in implementation of various nationally coordinated research programmes, viz.,
- Coastal Ocean Monitoring and Prediction System (COMAPS);
- Integrated Coastal and Marine Area Management (ICMAM);
- Assessment of Marine Living Resources (MLR); and
- Development of potential drugs from ocean (Drugs from sea). He has provided intellectual leadership for successful implementation of R&D activities in the field of marine sciences
